The rumors over the weekend that Mac DeMarco joined The Strokes at Shaky Knees Festival to perform “Last Nite” may have proven to be false (turns out Julian and gang just gave the guy a shout out and a hug), but the release of his new track “The Way You’d Love Her” is definitely on the up and up. The song is a first taste of his mini-LP Another One that is due out on August 7th via Captured Tracks. 

The song finds the swashbuckling DeMarco back in a romantic state of mind. Combining waggish guitar play with lyrics of lost love, the song delivers heartbreak with a sugar coating. An upbeat melancholy is said to pervade all the songs on Another One, which was recorded and performed by DeMarco at his seaside home in Far Rockaway, Queens. The official release of the new tune is accompanied by news that DeMarco is continuing his touring ways into the fall, adding dates in the US and Canada. Previously announced, he is in New York City August 17-20 to play Bowery Ballroom, Webster Hall, Music Hall of Williamsburg and Warsaw. Only tickets remain for the Webster Hall show.
