Capsule Film Review: Detropia

Heidi Ewing and Rachel Grady, the Oscar-nominated duo behind Jesus Camp, have another winner on their hands with Detropia. Once a kingpin in the automobile, manufacturing, and music industries, Detroit is now a waning metropolis on the verge of bankruptcy. For this documentary, the directors have crafted a moving and poetic portrait of the city through interviews with various feisty inhabitants struggling to make sense of its current state and hoping for a brighter future. Detropia won the U.S. Documentary Editing Award at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival.

Detropia was distributed by Independent Television Service.
