Abbi Jacobson and Pete Holmes to Join Chris Gethard for ‘Career Sucide’ at Tribeca, Watch the Trailer

Leave it to comedian Chris Gethard to turn mental illness into a laughing matter. The talented funny man built a one-man show around his experiences with the subject called Career Suicide. It premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe last year before enjoying a run off-Broadway. Now, the show has been taped and edited into a HBO comedy special that will be having its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival at the end of the month. This very special screening will be followed by a discussion with Gethard, Broad City‘s Abbi Jacobson, Cashing‘s Pete Holmes and This American Life’s Ira Glass, who produced Mike Birbiglia’s Don’t Think Twice, which starred Gethard. HBO recently shared a trailer for Career Suicide, you can watch it below.

Gethard’s Career Suicide had its beginnings in small comedy clubs in and around New York City. Judd Apatow then stepped in and presented the official staged version and also boarded to executive produce the 90-minute film. Kimberly Senior (Disgraced) directed.

If you need a catch up on Gethard, listen to his Beautiful/Anonymous podcast, or check out the weird and wacky The Chris Gethard Show. Gethard was also cast as Ilana’s boss on Broad City.

The Tribeca Film Festival world premiere screening of Career Suicide takes place on Saturday, April 29 at 8:15pm. Tickets are still available and can be purchased here. If you miss it at Tribeca, Career Suicide premieres on HBO on May 6.
