Courtney Barnett to Play Live Soundcheck Session

Courtney Barnett to Play Live Soundcheck Session

Courtney Barnett Sometimes I Sit and Think Album CoverAussie indie-rock goddess Courtney Barnett has added one more concert to her string of upcoming New York appearances. Touring in support of her stellar debut album, Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit, Barnett sold out three dates (May 19, 20 & 21) at Bowery Ballroom shortly after they went on sale back in February. A full month before the release of the new record. Last week it was announced that she would make another pass through the Big Apple in July to play Terminal 5. That show, co-presented by WFUV and Bowery Presents, includes openers Torres and Speedy Ortiz. Tickets are still available.

Today, we discovered Barnett will also be stopping by Soundcheck to play a free intimate lunchtime show at The Greene Space on May 20. The show runs 45-minutes and includes banter with host John Schaefer. Again, tickets are free, but need to be reserved in advance. You can snatch yours up here now.

It’s hard to believe that Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit is Barnett’s debut album. In part, because Mom+Pop smashed together her two EPs and released them in the US as The Double EP: A Sea of Peas in 2013. It’s also due to the fact that her songwriting is so assured. She makes it seem easy. Looking to the mundane for inspiration, Barnett crafts wickedly funny and detailed narratives. Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit is no doubt one of the best albums of the year.

Below you can check out her video for Kim’s Caravan and catch her performance of Depreston on Ellen. Her tour takes her across the US, scroll down for a complete list of dates.
