Gambles, aka Matthew Daniel Siskin, has officially released his new Father John Misty-produced album Let Us Be. Done in a grassroots fashion, Gambles stated via an Instagram post that he wasn’t sending out a press release or securing a premiere partner. Rather he preferred to just share the news with his social media friends. He does plan on hosting a public record release party of sorts. On Wednesday, October 18 at 4pm ET, Gambles will be doing another live stream via Instagram where he will perform songs off the album.
For the promotional elements of the record, Gambles enlisted his Instagram followers to submit photos and videos. The album cover, which you can see album, is a collage of faces that were DMed to him. A video will also be released soon that features clips fans submitted.
As for the music, if there is one defining track on Let Us Be, it would have to be “Hello, Laura”. A modern-day love song, where he croons about how he and his love are “renting assault rifles” and “planning escapes”. And whereas his last album, Vicious Times, which he has now completely removed from the internet, was dark and filled with dismay at what was happening in the world, the songs on Let Us Be are more ballad-like, similar to his 2013 record Trust.
