Only Two Vans House Parties Remain, Hinds Party Recap

Time certainly does fly when you’re partying at the House of Vans. It feels like we blinked and now there’s only two more Vans House Parties to go. On Wednesday, Neon Indian, Factory Floor and Kim Ann Foxman are serving up what is sure to be a killer dance party, and then next week things get heavy as Quicksand and Converge close out the series. Better be swift with your RSVPing for this freebies, so far all the shows have been sell outs.

A couple weeks back, Spanish indie rock darlings Hinds were handed the keys to Vans’ Brooklyn kingdom and they curated quite a shindig. The party, which doubled as this band’s zine release party, found Brainfreeze, Bleached and Oakland garage rockers Shannon and the Clams performing. In addition to the swell tunes, art, beer and tapas were free and plentiful. We, unfortunately, missed opener Brainfreeze, but we caught Bleached’s rockin’ set, and Shannon and the Clams had the crowd absolutely ecstatic.

The art that is decking out the interior space this year is jaw-dropping. They really went all out in honor of 50 years “Off the Wall”. You can get a look-see in the gallery below. And, on the occasion of the Hinds hijacking, the work of Italian artist Laurina Paperina was also on display. Paperina worked with Hinds on their zine and also created an animation that was screening in a alcove with Hinds’ track “Bamboo”.  Party goers were also invited to draw on Hinds’ murals in the name of girl power!
