Watching the first debate between 2016 presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump is definitely where it’s at tonight. Bars are getting in on the act, music venues, hotels, and more. One party in particular that we have are eye on is taking place at Gavin Brown’s Enterprise in Harlem. The art gallery is teaming up with artist Jonathan Horowitz for the free shindig, which, in addition to providing a sanctuary to take in the sparing match between the Democratic and Republican presidential nominees, will be serving up food and drink. The festivities get underway at 8pm.

Horowitz, who you may know from his massive dot project at Frieze in 2015, is certainly not shy when it comes to mixing his politics with his art. In 2000, the artist had a show at Greene Naftali Gallery which featured a poster with Gore’s picture on it that stated “Vote Gore.” In 2008, Horowitz staged Obama 08 at Gavin Brown’s Enterprise. The show centered around the presidential election and culminated in a live broadcast of the election returns. In 2012, the artist’s exhibition Your Land/My Land: Election ’12 was installed simultaneously at seven museums across the United States. The show provided a space for people to gather, watch coverage of, and talk about the 2012 presidential election. Currently, Horowitz is featured in the Jewish Museum’s group exhibition Take Me (I’m Yours), and also has a show up at The Brant Foundation Art Study Center entitled Occupy Greenwich. The solo exhibit features work made by the artist over the course of Barack Obama’s eight-year presidency.
