Well, here’s something we weren’t expecting. The Last Shadow Puppets (aka Alex Turner and Miles Kane) are releasing a new EP on December 2. Entitled The Dream Synopsis, the EP features a selection of covers and re-worked recordings. In celebration, the band have shared a video for a track of the new EP, a majestic cover of Leonard Cohen’s “Is This What You Wanted”. You can watch it below.

The Dream Synopsis was recorded live in one day at Future-Past Studios in Hudson, New York. In addition to the Cohen song, it features rejiggers of TLSP tracks “Aviation” and “The Dream Synopsis”, along with covers of Jacques Dutronc’s “Les Cactus”, The Fall’s “Totally Wired”, and Glaxo Babies’ “This is Your Life”, all of which the band have been performing live during their summer tour in support of Everything You’ve Come to Expect.

As for the new video, it’s directed by Focus Creeps. Relying mostly on camerawork and lighting, the video finds Turner (who is looking mighty sexy) prancing in the shadows as the band performs the song within a minimal red-soaked set.

Perhaps coincidentally, TLSP’s video comes the same week that Cohen is releasing his 14th studio album. The 82-year-old singer’s You Want It Darker arrives on Friday.
