We knew the opening of Bowery Presents newest concert venue, Brooklyn Steel, was coming in April, but today things got real. Really real. LCD Soundsystem real. The Williamsburg, Brooklyn-dwelling club will officially open with five shows headlined by LCD Soundsystem. The first of these concerts takes place on Thursday, April 6, with subsequent shows on Friday, April 7, Saturday, April 8, Monday, April 10, and Tuesday, April 11. Tickets for all of the shows go on sale Thursday, March 30 at noon ET.

When it opens in little over a week, Brooklyn Steel will be the largest general admission venue in Brooklyn, with a capacity of approximately 1,800. This places it as slightly larger than Webster Hall’s Grand Ballroom, which accommodates 1,500. The space promises raised platforms and a mezzanine with great sitelines. As for the sound, Bowery Presents enlisted the help of L-Acoustics, which is the company that upgraded the sound at Terminal 5 in 2015. Previously announced shows at Brooklyn Steel include The Decemberists, Pixies, PJ Harvey, Two Door Cinema Club, Animal Collective, Sylvan Esso, Whitney, Floating Points, Tycho, The Black Angels and Vulfpeck. As for LCD Soundsystem, the band returned from the dead last year after retiring with much fanfare in 2011. Murphy and gang inked a deal with Columbia Records and headlined many music festivals last summer. More recently, the group have been laying low, cancelling dates in Asia and Australia to concentrate on their new record. Perhaps, fans who score tickets to the Brooklyn Steel gigs will be treated to a preview of the band’s coming attractions.
