Mercury Lounge & Bowery Ballroom Part Ways with Bowery Presents, Now Under Mercury East Presents

It appears the divorce is final. Mercury Lounge and Bowery Ballroom are no longer part of the Bowery Presents fam. The split has been in works since AEG purchased Bowery Presents earlier this year, but now it’s all official. Mercury Lounge and Bowery Ballroom are now under the umbrella of the newly formed Mercury East Presents, which is part of Live Nation. Other venues under the umbrella include Irving Plaza, Gramercy Theatre and Warsaw. You can find Mercury East Presents’ new website at www.mercuryeastpresents.com.

As for the AEG side of things, Bowery Presents will continue to be in charge of Music Hall of Williamsburg, Terminal 5, Rough Trade NYC, and Brooklyn Steel. They also book shows at Brooklyn Bowl, Beacon Theatre, Starland Ballroom, Capitol Theatre, PlayStation Theater, Town Hall, Radio City Music Hall, and King’s Theatre, among others. As far as purchasing tickets, AXS is the go to vendor for a majority of these venues, but you can also purchase tickets in person for all the Bowery Presents clubs at the PlayStation Theater box office, which is open Mon-Sat, 12pm-6pm.

What does this all mean for concert goers? It’s hard to say yet. Will the quality or tenor of the bands that play Bowery Ballroom and Mercury Lounge change? Perhaps. We’ll have to wait and see. But one thing is for certain, it’s definitely the end of an era.
