Moses Pendleton’s MOMIX Returns to Joyce with NY Premiere of ‘Alchemia’

Moses Pendleton’s MOMIX are back in New York City. Currently celebrating their 35th anniversary season, the internationally renowned dance company take up residency at the Joyce Theater to perform Alchemia, a full-length work inspired by the four elements: earth, air, fire and water. This will be the show’s New York premiere.

Known for their inventiveness and sense of humor, the troupe’s illusionary works are both beautiful and thrilling and employ costumes, props, evocative music and multimedia effects. They last visited the Joyce in 2014 with reMIX, a show that revisited some of the company’s most stunning works.

Pendleton, one of America’s most widely performed choreographers, founded MOMIX in 1980 and serves as the company’s artistic director. He has worked extensively in film, TV and opera and most recently choreographed the Doves of Peace featuring Diana Vishneva for the Opening Ceremony of the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.

Alchemia, MOMIX’s latest full-length work, is described as being a phantasmagorical multimedia spectacle that turns the art of alchemy into the alchemy of art. If its anything like their previous works, its sure to dazzle and cause many jaws to drop. Check out a trailer for the show below. It runs at the Joyce from July 6 through August 1. Tickets range in price from $10 to $59 and can be purchased through JoyceCharge at www.Joyce.org, or by calling 212-242-0800.
