Theater Review: Shatner’s World: We Just Live in It

If you thought meeting the real William Shatner required going to a Star Trek Convention or ComicCon, think again. At nearly 81 years young, Shatner is laying his life on the line in a new one-man show, Shatner’s World: We Just Live in It. Enjoying a puzzling, controversial, and prolific career in the spotlight, the Canadian-born man who has boldly gone where no man has gone before, charms the audience over the course of 100 minutes with video clips and humor-injected anecdotes from his childhood, days in live television, and experience as a horse owner. A yes man to a fault, the Emmy Award-winning, once Shakespearean actor who spoke his way through Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds on Johnny Carson’s Tonight Show, reveals his humanity in a witty, self-effacing manner. For fans or those just wondering what makes the man tick, Shatner’s well-played negotiation is worth the trip.

Shatner’s World: We Just Live in It played at the Music Box Theater in New York City from February 14, 2012-March 4, 2012.
