Thee Oh Sees Change Name to Oh Sees, Announce ‘Orc’, Release First Track “The Static God”

Thee Oh Sees The Static God OrcAs if we weren’t already teetering on the brink, John Dwyer has decided to complicate things further by changing the name of his beloved band from Thee Oh Sees to Oh Sees. Fortunately, this potentially turmoil-inducing announcement, which we imagine was reached after months of deliberation (and several bowls), is accompanied by news of a new album, Orc. The record will be delivered August 25 via Dwyer’s label Castle Face Records. This bombshell comes with the release of the first track, “The Static God”, which you can listen to below.

Dwyer’s project turns 20 years young this year and this isn’t the first time he’s fiddled with the name. Other iterations have included The Oh Sees or The Ohsees. Dwyer has also made a number of personnel adjustments over the band’s history, with the current incarnation featuring Dan Rincon and Paul Quattrone on drums, and Tim Hellman on bass. And, it appears Brigid Dawson has a hand in the new record, which is the project’s 19th.

There is no pre-order available as of yet, but we do have a track list for Orc, which we’ve laid out below. So, for now, we recommend you strap in and pay homage to the first single, “The Static God”.
