Bastille Day 2016 in NYC: Street Festivals, Petanque, Parties & More

There is much to celebrate these days when it comes to France. Not only is their team playing in the Euro 2016 final against Portugal on Sunday, but Bastille Day is just around the corner. The holiday, which falls on July 14, marks the anniversary of the day troops stormed the Bastille and started the French Revolution. It’s a national holiday in France, and here in the U.S. it’s ushered in with French-themed street fairs, feasts, concerts, pétanque tournaments and more. We’ve sorted through the festivities, and have come up with our picks. All are free, except where noted. Also, check the dates, as many of the festivities take place on the weekend rather than July 14.
