Fan Verification to Purchase Tickets for New York Comic Con 2016 Closes Today (Update: Registration Reopened Until June 15)

Those who want in on New York Comic Con best listen up, because the organizers are doing things a little bit differently this year. In hopes of getting tickets out of the clutches of dastardly ticket resellers and into the hands of honest-to-goodness fans, the team behind NYCC (ReedPOP) has introduced a fan verification process. It requires advanced registration and the last day to do so is today, Monday, June 13, so read on. Update: Registration has been reopened, the new deadline is Wednesday, June 15 at 2pm EDT.

The new fan verification process requires that anyone interested in attending NYCC 2016, which takes place October 6-9, 2016, must fill out a profile in order to be eligible to purchase tickets when they go on sale. You cannot fill out several profiles using the same email address, it’s one profile per email address. The only fans who do not need to be “fan verified” are kids who are 6-12 at the time of NYCC 2016. So, best tell anyone and everyone you know who is remotely interested in attending to fill out a profile ASAP. The deadline is 11:59pm EDT on Monday, June 13, 2016 2pm EDT on Wednesday, June 15, 2016. You can find more information about the fan verification process and fill out your profile here.

The organizers have announced a few other changes to this year’s ticketing. For the first time, tickets for NYCC will only be available for purchase online through the NYCC website, there will be no retail sales. Also, there are no VIP tickets this year.

And, for those on the fence about whether to logon and create a profile, it’s been announced that Stan Lee will be making his final appearance at NYCC this year. The comic book legend will be celebrating his 94th birthday in December, so it makes sense that he’s ready to retire from public appearances. Others expected to attend this year’s shindig include Assassination Classroom creator Yusei Matsui, Carrie Fisher of Star Wars, and Jack Gleason of Game of Thrones. NYCC is also debuting BookCon as part of this year’s festivities. The sidebar event brings books to life through panels, meet-and-greets and more. Happening just down the street from the Jacob Javits Center at Hudson Mercantile, the event runs 4 days and your NYCC badge grants you access. For more information visit the BookCon website.
