Jon Heder’s ‘Ghost Team’ to Haunt Theaters in 2016

Ghost Team Jon HederComedy-thriller Ghost Team, not to be confused with Ghostbusters, has secured North American, U.K., Australian, and New Zealand distribution. Thanks to The Orchard, the film, which stars Jon Heder, David Krumholtz, Melonie Diaz, Paul W. Downs with Justin Long and Amy Sedaris, will be haunting theaters towards the end of 2016. We’re guessing a Halloween-timed release is in the works.

Written by Peter Warren and directed by Oliver Irving, Ghost Team is about a paranormal-obsessed man, played by Heder, who puts together a dysfunctional team to help him mount his investigation into the supernatural. In his crew are his depressed friend, misfit nephew, a cable access “medium” and an overeager security guard. It sounds a like a wackier Scooby Doo, minus the dog.

And, speaking of the supernatural, the X-Files released new artwork yesterday. It’s only a little over two months until the revival returns to Fox. If you haven’t already marked your calendar, Sunday, Jan. 24 is the big day.

Ghost Team, which wrapped production last week, is produced by Julie Christeas and Schuyler Weiss of Tandem Pictures, Alex Sagalchik of Mott Street Pictures, Clem McIntosh and director Oliver Irving, with Kevin Iwashina of Preferred Content serving as Executive Producer. Based on the photos posted on their Facebook page, it looks like they had a pretty fun time making it.
