Matt Groening’s Netflix Animated Series ‘Disenchantment’ Gets Trailer, Makes Splash at Comic-Con

After being thoroughly teased, Netflix has shared the first full trailer for Matt Groening’s new animated series Disenchantment. The series, which features the voices of Abbi Jacobson, Eric André and Nat Faxon, is a feminist comedy set in the dark ages. It premieres on Netflix on August 17. The trailer is a promising portrait, you can check it out below.

Disenchantment centers around Princess Bean (Jacobson), a rebellious young woman living in medieval times who sets out to find herself. Accompanying her on her misadventures are Elfo, a feisty elf voiced by Nat Faxon, and Luci, her personal demon played by Eric André. In the trailer you get a sense of where this is all going, as she breaks off her arranged marriage to a handsome young prince and forges her own way.

To coincide with the release of the trailer, Netflix promoted the new series at ComicCon with a Disenchantment panel and booth. In the booth, guests were invited into the poison shop where they could “spin the bottle” for prizes. Groening, André, Faxon and executive producer Josh Weinstein were also on hand signing autographs. You can check out some photos of the booth and other shenanigans that folks posted on Instagram below.

Disenchantment drops on Netflix on August 17.
