The plot thickens regarding New Order’s recently announced Music Complete. The new album is going to feature some very special guests, including the Killers frontman Brandon Flowers, Iggy Pop and Elly Jackson aka La Roux. The record is shaping up to be far more intriguing than first imagined. It comes out via MUTE on September 25, 2015.

Flowers, who named The Killers after New Order’s video for “Crystal”, is lending vocals to the track “Superheated”. Iggy Pop can be heard on “Stray Dog”, and Elly Jackson is featured on “Tutti Frutti”, and “People On The High Line”. She also provides backing vocals to “Plastic”. Jackson became close with the band when La Roux toured with them in 2014.

It’s curious that another band who rose to fame in the ’80s also has a new record coming out this fall featuring special guests. Duran Duran’s Paper Gods, which is produced by Nigel Rogers and Mark Ronson, comes out September 11, 2015. Among those the band enlisted include Lindsay Lohan, Kiesza, Janelle Monáe, John Frusciante, Mr. Hudson and Jonas Bjerre. It will be interesting to compare and contrast the new records and see which band is staying closer to their musical roots. Both bands were pegged as New Wave synth-pop acts back in the ’80s.

Along with the leak regarding the guest vocalists, New Order have added tour dates in the UK and Europe.
