New York Super Week to Feature ‘Doctor Who’, ‘The Waking Dead’ Season 6, ‘The League’ and More

Anyone can be a super hero (or super villain) in the New York Comic Con universe. The East Coast’s biggest and most colorful pop culture convention is set to descend on Gotham October 8-11, and per usual, it’s shaping up to be total insanity. Also back is NYCC’s able sidekick, New York Super Week. Launched last year, New York Super Week spreads the convention’s pop culture spirit all over New York City.

In addition to dressing up, NYCC is always a star-studded affair where attendees can get their swag signed by special guests, catch sneak previews of upcoming film releases, or take in a panel discussion or two. Among this year’s guests are renowned manga artist Masashi Kishimoto, actress/author Felicia Day, cast members from Firefly, actor Danny Glover, Batman creative duo Greg Capullo and Scott Snyder, Spawn creator Todd McFarlane, and the cast and creators of The League. Many more are to be announced in the coming weeks.

New York Super Week, which runs October 5-11, carries a whole other bag of tricks. Over 50 pop-culture related events have been bestowed the New York Super Week badge of approval. In the mix you’ll find the Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular produced by BBC Worldwide North America, the world’s 1st and largest traveling geek film festival, a Game of Thrones-themed evening with a discussion and DJ set by Kristian Nairn, a science fiction and fantasy spelling bee, and Rock N’ Comix 2015, which features live comix readings and musical performances by Charles Soule, Ted Naifeh, and Americans UK (watch video below). The Walking Dead Season 6 is also getting in on the fun and will be throwing an ultimate fan experience event at Madison Square Garden on October 9. It includes viewing the Season 6 premiere live, plus a panel discussion with the cast. You can enter to win tickets here. The trailer for Season 6 is posted below.

New York Super Week also has a New York Super Week Card available for purchase. The card gives discounts and special offers at restaurants, retailers and bars across New York. Visit the New York Super Week website for more details.

Tickets to New York Comic Con are almost gone; Thursday is the only day still available. But, who knows, maybe a ticket contest will pop-up. As for New York Super Week, there are still tickets to be had.
