Oscar Week in NYC: Screenings, Parties & More

We are knee deep in Oscar Week, and whether you’re boycotting, watching or indifferent, no one can deny that this year’s awards show has been the talk of the town since the nominations were announced back in January. Being total film geeks, we’ll of course be glued to the old boob tube come Sunday night for the Chris Rock-hosted festivities. Seriously, how can we let down Leo and not watch him finally take home a statue? For those also down to partake, we’ve put together a list of Oscar Week activities going on New York City. Included are where to catch up on Oscar films, our recommended watch parties and more.

Oscar Week Screenings & Oscar Party
Recently opened Bushwick restaurant-cum-movie theater Syndicated is saluting Oscar all week with screenings of nominated films. Catch up on Mad Max: Fury Road, Spotlight, Straight Outta Compton and more. Come Sunday, the joint revisits last year’s winner of Best Picture, Birdman, and hosts a shindig for this year’s festivities in their bar area.

Oscar Nominated Shorts

If you prefer to watch them from the comfort of your own home, computer, or smart device, the shorts are available on many cable platforms and via iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, Google Play, Vimeo On Demand, and more.
