With a heavy heart, we’d like to remind fans of outdoor screenings that Rooftop Films is coming to a close this week. The series that brings indie cinema goodness to parks, rooftops and other outdoor locales across New York City has only three more screenings to go before they pack up their screens and call it a summer.

Tonight, the series hosts a special sneak preview screening of Joe Swanberg’s Digging For Fire. A relationship-adventure, the film stars Jake Johnson and Rosemarie DeWitt as a married couple who find what might be evidence of a murder while housesitting. Swanberg peppers the story with cameos by the likes of Brie Larson, Mike Birbiglia, Sam Rockwell, Orlando Bloom and more.  This evening’s screening, which takes place at Industry City, is followed by a Q&A with Johnson and Swanberg, and an after-party. If you miss tonight’s event, Digging For Fire burrows its way into theaters this Friday thanks to The Orchard.

Trey Shults’ SXSW award-winning film Krisha pays Rooftop Films a visit on Thursday. Based on Shults’ short of the same name, Krisha is an evocative family drama about troubled woman who reunites with her estranged family for Thanksgiving. The screening, which is free, is co-hosted by Indiewire and doubles as 19th birthday party celebration. It is preceded by a reception and performance by Haybaby and goes down at the Bushwick Generator.

The series closes at Industry City Saturday night as it began with a shorts program. The theme of the evening is endings and features a stunning mix of international films that should take your emotions on an exhilarating ride. An after-party sponsored by New Amsterdam Vodka and Brewery Ommegang with a set by DJ Conor C ensues after the films.
