Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig are Supermarket Products on the Run in Red Band Trailer for ‘Sausage Party’

Here’s something that is sure to have you hungering for August, the official red band trailer for Sausage Party. The first R-rated CG animated movie, Sausage Party is about a group of mild-mannered supermarket products that learn what really happens to grocery food items after they leave the store. The film is from the writers of Superbad and Pineapple Express and the producers of This is the End, and features the voices of Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Jonah Hill, James Franco and more. It had its premiere as a “work-in-progress” at the SXSW Film Festival tonight is getting some excellent buzz. You can watch the action-packed restricted trailer below.

In the trailer, we learn that grocery store items are eager to be picked by shoppers, unaware of what lies in store after they are brought home. Once it becomes apparent that potatoes are skinned and baby carrots are eaten alive, the rest of the products want out. Bearing an apocalyptical and casting kinship to This is the End, Sausage Party looks very promising, casting Wiig as Brenda, a bun on the run, and Rogen as Frank, a hot dog hero that wants to save all edible products.

In addition to Rogen, Wiig, Hill and Franco, other funny people heard in the film include Bill Hader, Michael Cera, James Franco, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Paul Rudd, Nick Kroll, David Krumholtz, Edward Norton, and Salma Hayek. The film is directed by Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan and produced by Megan Ellison of Annapurna Pictures along with Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Conrad Vernon.

Sausage Party arrives in theaters August 12, 2016 courtesy of Columbia Pictures.
