Car Seat Headrest’s New LP Gets Physical Release; Band Plays 4Knots This Saturday

After a slight hiccup back in May, Car Seat Headrest’s critically acclaimed new LP is finally getting a physical. Teens of Denial is out on CD and double LP tomorrow, Friday, July 8. The band have pretty much been nonstop touring since last fall and return to New York this weekend to play 4Knots Music Festival. You can find all tour dates below.

Car Seat Headrest Teens denial physical release 4KnotsWhat began as Will Toledo’s bedroom pop project, Car Seat Headrest has blossomed into a certifiable rock outfit that draws inspiration from Pavement, Wire and Jonathan Richman, and sounds a shade like The Strokes. Signing to Matador last year, the band’s Teens of Style (a compilation of re-recorded tracks) was released on the label last October and followed up with Teens of Denial in May. Unfortunately, due to Ric Ocasek (The Cars) not being cool with Toledo and band using “Just What I Needed” in one of their songs, the track needed to be retooled just a little over a week before the album’s drop date. As a result, the LP was only released digitally and all the vinyl that had been shipped with the unapproved version was destroyed. Now, seven weeks later, the physical release is finally happening.

The 23-year-old Toledo currently calls Seattle home. For the new record, he worked with fellow Seattleite Steve Fisk. Fisk, who has worked with the likes of Nirvana, Soundgarden, Screaming Trees and Boss Hog, produced Teens of Denial in his studio last summer.

Car Seat Headrest has an afternoon slot at 4Knots, playing the Pier 16 Stage at 3:40pm. If you are on the fence about catching them, check out the videos for tracks “Vincent” and “Something Soon” below. They should hopefully sway you.

You can order Teens of Denial on CD and double LP now at the Matador Store.
