We warned you Eric Andre had something cooking for Netflix. Today, the comedian announced the release date for Eric Andre: Legalize Everything, his first-ever stand-up comedy special. It’s nice to have something funny to look forward to. Eric’s special premieres globally on the streamer on June 23, 2020. You can find his official proclamation below.

Like most Los Angeles residents, Eric has spent the last two months hunkered down at home. And, according to his Instagram stories, he’s used the time to brush up on his bartending skills. Eric has posted photos and videos of his liquor stash along with glam shots of fancy mouth-watering, fruit-adorned cocktails. It’s been a non-stop happy hour at casa de Eric.

We can’t really blame Eric for drowning his sorrows in booze during these pandemic times. The Covid-19 crisis screwed up the long-awaited release of his hidden-camera prank comedy Bad Trip, which he stars in along with Tiffany Haddish and Lil Rel Howery. The film was set to premiere at SXSW 2020 in March and then release theatrically on April 24, 2020. UPDATE May 13: Variety & Eric have shared the news that Netflix has purchased Bad Trip from the film’s theatrical distributor Orion. It appears Amazon Prime accidentally released the film VOD briefly in April. Despite the screw-up, Netflix is on board for a proper streaming release, premiere date TBD.

As Eric states enthusiastically in his multiple video messages below, Legalize Everything is his first stand-up comedy special. It was filmed back in November at Republic NOLA in New Orleans at the end of his 2019 Legalize Everything tour (read more on that here). Eric’s set covers topics such as the war on drugs, the war on sex, and the war on fart jokes.

The special is directed by Eric Notarnicola (Mister America). Mike Rosenstein serves as executive producer for Sunset Rose Pictures alongside A24.
