Father John Misty Strolls the Streets of New York City in Video for ‘God’s Favorite Customer’ (Watch)

Father John Misty’s wife Emma Tillman is behind his latest video for the title track of his new new album, God’s Favorite Customer. Shot during the wee hours of the morning in New York City’s East Village, the video lingers over a wandering Josh Tillman. You can check it out below.

Emma is a photographer by trade, with one short to her credit, The History of Caves, for which her husband composed the soundtrack. The film, which is available for viewing on iTunes, is about a widower who takes to sleeping with young girls much to the chagrin of his three children.

As for the video for “God’s Favorite Customer”, New Yorkers are sure to pick up on the location for the shoot. FJM strolls by the Joe Strummer mural on 7th Street, then turns onto Avenue A, making his way down the block to Sidewalk at 6th Street. He then crosses over to walk down 6th towards 1st Avenue. During this part of his journey he passes by Busy Bee Bikes where he encounters a memorial to a fallen cyclist. He picks up some flowers off the sidewalk and continues walking. A seamless cut is made and then we find him on East 4th Street walking towards Bowery.  He turns onto Bowery heading south, walking by Phebe’s towards The Bowery Hotel. It’s all pretty flawless due to the camerawork of Gabe Harden, who shot it on a Panasonic Varicam 35.

Father John Misty played Mountain Jam over the weekend. The North American leg of his tour picks up again June 24, with a show at the Hollywood Bowl. All upcoming dates can be found below. God’s Favorite Customer is out now on Sub Pop.
