Get Lost in Whitney’s Cover of Wilco’s “Far, Far Away,” ‘Forever Turned Around’ Tour Extends Into 2020

Whitney Wilco Cover Far Far Away FTASlowly but surely the Wilco covers produced for Uncut’s Wilco Covered CD compilation are coming. Last week, Twin Peaks and The Handsome Family released their covers as singles. Today, Whitney shared their version of Wilco’s “Far, Far Away.” It’s available as a digital download or a limited edition opaque cream 7″ with “FTA.” You can pre-order the vinyl now via Secretly Canadian.

“Far, Far Away” is one of Wilco’s alt-country golden oldies from their 1996 album Being There. The recorded version features Bob Egan on pedal steel. As for Whitney’s nostalgia-tinged cover, the delicate falsetto of vocalist-drummer Julien Ehrlich suits the song well.

Over the summer, before heading out on tour to support their sublime sophomore LP Forever Turned Around, Whitney (Julien Ehrlich and Max Kakacek) sat down with Jeff Tweedy for an interview. You can read it over on Billboard.

There are two other Wilco covers from the Uncut compilation on YouTube; however, we aren’t sure if they are band endorsed, so we won’t include them here. At publication, you can find Low’s “War on War” if you click here, and Ryley Walker’s “Love Is Everywhere (Beware)” over here.

Whitney, who are currently touring the UK, have added some 2020 shows to their schedule. You can find all dates below.
