Adult Swim Festival Returns for 2019 With Eric André, ‘Rick & Morty,’ Captain Murphy, Vince Staples & More

Los Angeles is having all the fun these days. There’s the Del Close Marathon that abandoned New York and is happening at the UCB theaters in Los Angeles this weekend. Next week, Blarf (who we believe is Eric André) is having its record release party at the Lodge Room in Highland Park. And, the kicker, Adult Swim announced today that for the second year the Adult Swim Festival will be held in Los Angeles. The action-packed blowout, which serves up comedy, music, gaming and more, is scheduled for Friday, November 15 and Saturday, November 16. So, if you don’t live in the neighborhood, we suggest planning accordingly.

Launching in 2018, the inaugural edition of the Adult Swim Festival attracted over 20,000 attendees to the Row DTLA. The first year’s lineup was eclectic and included Chad Vangaalen, Hannibal Buress, Flying Lotus, Thundercat, Zola Jesus, Neko Case, Run the Jewels, Julianna Barwick, Big Freedia, and Wavves, among others. Building off of the network’s programming, the festival is also an extension of the Adult Swim Singles Program, a curated series that since 2010 has published more than 250 free new music tracks by both emerging and established musicians.

The Adult Swim Festival moves on up for 2019. Taking over the Banc of California Stadium, the two-day genre-bending event promises more comedy, music, interactive games, celebrities and surprises for year two. Dethoklok, the death metal band from Adult Swim’s Metalocalypse, will play their first show in five years at the fest. Flying Lotus’ animated rapper alter-ego Captain Murphy is also set to perform, as well as Jamie XX, Vince Staples, Young Thug, and Geto Boys, who play their first show since Bushwick Bill’s passing. Supporting acts include Clipping., Speedy Ortiz, Iron Reagan, and No Joy. Plus, Eric André has signed on to do a live edition of his popular Adult Swim show, The Eric Andre Show. And, the Cartoon Network offshoot is serving up a number of experiences based around their original programming. Fest-goers will be treated to an exclusive Rick and Morty Season 4 screening, a Robot Chicken Intergalactic Power Summit, a Squidbillies 10-man bunkhouse stampede, and a discussion with Samurai Jack creator Genndy Tartakovsky, who will likely be talking about his new animated series Primal. The full lineup is below.
