Eric André Confirms Season 5 of The Eric Andre Show Coming in 2020
Halloween is no doubt one of Eric André’s favorite holidays. The comedian used the occasion to confirm that Season 5 of The Eric André Show is indeed happening and will begin airing on Adult Swim some time in 2020. Talk about laying a huge treat on fans. We can’t believe it’s been three years since the curtain closed on Season 4. André gave EW the scoop. He also won Halloween with his killer costume. He dressed up as a pregnant Ali Wong (see below).
As for Season 5 of his gonzo late-night variety talk show, André reteams with director Kitao Sakurai and has some exciting things in store. He told EW he put on weight for his hosting gig, which is consistent with what he said during his show in Brooklyn back in May.
Per usual, the season’s set also received a makeover. He describes it as looking like “Liberace f-ed a Japanese game show.”
André also unleashes some new characters on the streets of New York City for Season 5. There’s an extreme Ranch It Up guy who has syringes for fingers. And then there’s Bench Mench, “an anthropomorphic bench who helps civilians out pro bono.”
There’s been no mention of Hannibal Buress’s return to the show. He’s been busy of late working on his landlord line of t-shirts. We assume he’ll be back in the co-host/sidekick chair.
We aren’t sure yet if this is good news or bad news, but The Eric Andre Show is not one of the Adult Swim shows being included in the HBO Max library. Earlier this week, the new streaming service announced that Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Primal, Rick & Morty and Samurai Jack are all going to be part of the service’s first year of programming.
Andre is still out on his Legalize Everything stand-up tour. On Saturday, November 16, he will be at the Adult Swim Festival in Los Angeles for a rendition of The Eric Andre Show Live!. Should be a blast. Tickets are still available. As previously reported, André’s prank film with Lil Rel Howery, Bad Trip, has been pushed back to April 2020.
